IEC 62386-224:2018 pdf download.Digital addressable lighting interface – Part 224: Particular requirements for control gear – Non-replaceable light source (device type 23)
1 Scope
This part of IEC 62386 specifies a bus system for control by digital signals of electronic lighting equipment which is in line with the requirements of IEC 61 347 (all parts), with the addition of DC supplies. This document is only applicable to IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :— control gear with non-replaceable light source. NOTE Requirements for testing individual products during production are not included.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in IEC 62386-1 01 and IEC 62386-1 02 and the following apply. ISO and IEC maintain terminological databases for use in standardization at the following addresses • IEC Electropedia: available at http://www.electropedia.org/ • ISO Online browsing platform: available at http://www.iso.org/obp 3.1 non-replaceable light source light source, generally designed to form a non-replaceable part of a control gear Note 1 to entry: A non replaceable light source cannot be replaced without breaking or destroying the control gear, or it is enclosed under a cover fixed by screws or similar fixing means designed to be used only once and which cannot be opened. Note 2 to entry: A non-replaceable LED module is understood to be the same as an integrated LED module.
4 General
4.1 General The requirements of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, Clause 4 apply, with the restrictions, changes and additions identified below. 4.2 Version number In 4.2 of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, “1 02” shall be replaced by “224”, “version number” shall be replaced by “extended version number” and “versionNumber” shall be replaced by “extendedVersionNumber”.
5 Electrical specification
The requirements of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, Clause 5 apply.
6 Interface power supply
The requirements of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, Clause 6 apply.
7 Transmission protocol structure
The requirements of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, Clause 7 apply.
8 Timing
The requirements of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, Clause 8 apply.
9 Method of operation
9.1 General The requirements of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, Clause 9, apply with the following additions. 9.2 Lamp failure If a lamp failure occurs, • a total control gear failure may occur, or • “lampFailure” shall be set to TRUE. If “lampFailure” is TRUE, the control gear does not need to check whether the lamp situation has improved. Since a light source according to this document is generally designed to form a non- replaceable part of a control gear, it is typically not possible to apply a lamp failure without breaking the control gear. For testing purposes, the test procedures shall not generate an error related to the lamp replacement detection after removal of a lamp failure. Additionally, it shall be verified that this type of control gear contains a non-replaceable light source. If it is not possible to apply an open circuit (lamp disconnect) and/or introduce a short circuit (depending on the light source type), a destructive test shall replace the lamp error related test procedures to verify that the driver is able to detect the lamp failure correctly. NOTE 1 Depending on the light source type applied to the control gear, the manufacturer might choose to omit detection of short circuit (e.g. if the failure mode of a LED or OLED is known to be “open”). NOTE 2 This might include skipping certain test steps in the test procedures and/or rearranging the order of test execution. 10 Declaration of variables The requirements of IEC 62386-1 02:201 4 and IEC 62386-1 02:201 4/AMD1 :—, Clause 1 0 apply, with the following additional variables for this device type, as given in Table 1 .
