3 Guidelines
3.1 Compliance Equipment for use in multimedia systems should comply with: • IEC 60065 or IEC 60950-1 , according to the manufacturer’s choice; and • the additions listed in Clause 3. As explained in Clause 1 , this Guide focuses on the use of IEC 60065 or IEC 60950-1 . Alternatively, IEC 62368-1 may be considered. 3.2 General requirements IEC 60065:201 4, Clause 3: this clause is applicable. IEC 60950-1 :2005, 1 .3: no additions required. 3.3 Marking IEC 60065:201 4, Clause 5: this clause is applicable together with the following addition to 5.5: For equipment covered by IEC 60065 intended for use in multimedia systems, the instructions for use and installation should give the necessary information to ensure correct and safe installation and interconnection of the equipment. IEC 60950-1 :2005, IEC 60950-1 :2005/AMD1 :2009 and IEC 60950-1 :2005/AMD2:201 3, 1 .7: no additions required.3.4 Interfaces to the telecommunication network IEC 60065: Annex B of IEC 60065:201 4 should be applied to equipment to which IEC 60065 is applied and which is intended for use in multimedia systems and for connection to a telecommunication network. Alternatively, Clause 6 of IEC 60950-1 :2005, IEC 60950-1 :2005/AMD1 :2009 and IEC 60950-1 :2005/AMD2:201 3 may be applied. NOTE 1 This choice applies to this item only and is permitted due to the fast evolution of the technology. NOTE 2 For telecommunications networks in Australia, due to existing national differences to both standards, only Clause 6 of AS/NZS 60950-1 :201 5 may be applied to IEC 60065 equipment. Annex B of IEC 60065:201 4 is not applicable in Australia. 3.5 Equipment containing coin/button cell batteries Subclauses 2.7.1 5 (definition), 5.4 c) (marking), 5.5.2 j) (instructions), and 1 2.7 (requirements) of IEC 60065:201 4 should be applied to equipment with user replaceable coin/button cell batteries when IEC 60950-1 is applied. NOTE The publication of IEC 60065:201 4/COR2:201 6 makes the requirements also valid for lithium batteries.
